Templates were introduced in version 1.2 of QuickNote. These can be extremely useful if you find yourself using a certain block of text over and over again while creating or editing notes from within QuickNote.
Here is what you’d have to do without templates in QuickNote:
1) Move to a note containing the text you wish to copy
2) select the text and copy it
3) move back to the note you were creating or editing
4) select the spot to paste the text on the clipboard
5) select paste from the edit menu.
Here is how to do it with a template:
1) select the spot to place the text from the template in the note you are editing
2) select the templates’ name from the “Insert Template” menu.
That’s it! All the text from the template you selected will be placed into the note you are editing.
Templates PopUp Menu:
A list of templates can be brought up while in any application by using the QuickNote PopUp menu (see “The QuickNote Window” for more information on setting it up). To access this menu, hold down the modifier key(s) that are set up in the QuickNote control panel and press and hold down the mouse button. The first two options of the popup menu will bring up a blank note or the Get/Edit Notes window. You can use this menu to copy the text from any template onto the clipboard and have it auto-pasted into whatever text document you are working on without ever opening QuickNote!
Setting up Templates:
To be able to use templates, you must first create a category named “Templates” (without the quotes of course! ;-). Once you do that, any notes you create and place in the Templates category, will be available from the “Insert Templates” menu (which is in the “File” menu).
